Controversial Rapper R.A. The Rugged Man Live in Montreal
Performs at Foufounes Électriques on December 10th
One of Hip Hop’s most controversial figures, R.A. The Rugged Man comes to Montreal on Wednesday, December 10th. He will be performing at Les Foufounes Électriques, 87 Ste-Catherine E., in the heart of downtown.
R.A. The Rugged Man started rapping at the age of 12, where he quickly gained a reputation in the New York battle scene. At the age of 18, the Long Island native was the subject on a nine label bidding war, eventually signing to Jive records. He was soon dropped for his outrageous behavior and on-stage antics. In fact, he was banned from performing live in most of the United States for over three years, banned from recording studios and banned from nearly every rap label that ever existed.
Despite his notoriety (or perhaps because of it) R.A. The Rugged Man has worked with everyone from Mobb Deep to Notorious B.I.G, as well as producers such as Erick Sermon and the Trackmasters. He was featured on all three of Rawkus’ Soundbombing albums and is a regular contributor to magazines such as Vibe and King. He has released one album, “Die, Rugged Man, Die” featuring Killah Priest and Wu-Tang Clan’s Masta Killa.
Accompanying R.A. The Rugged Man on tour is Philadelphia rapper Reef the Lost Cauze and The Lyricists from Michigan. Joining them on stage will be Quebec’s very own Chemistry and MC La Sauce. Music for the concert will be provided by DJs Kid Kebec and Manifest, and hosted by MC Dirty Taz.
The R.A. The Rugged Man concert takes place Wednesday, December 10th, 2008. Doors open at 8:30pm, Showtime is at 9:00pm. Les Foufounes Électriques is located at 87 Ste-Catherine E., Metro St-Laurent. Tickets are $11.95 in advance, available at all Admission outlets(admission.com), City Styles (1186 Ste-Catherine W.) and Off The Hook (1021 Ste-Catherine W.),
